3.5.1

Concepts and definitions

3.5.1.1 Connectors

The MXFS has 8 FC/APC optical connectors located on its front panel
(

see Fig. 3.1

).

The device is ready to receive several Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) sensors
connected in series on the same optical fiber.

3.5.1.2 Channels

Each optical connector accommodates 16 channels. This means that the
device can read a maximum of 16 fiber Bragg grating peaks per optical
connector.
