er connects to the ground rod is not properly installed, the completion of the electrical
circuit may not be possible. Likewise, the fence wire must always be insulated proper-
ly from touching shrubs, tall grass and other electrically conductive objects. Otherwise
the electric charge from the fence wire leaks off to ground through weeds, etc. and the
fence loses its shocking power.
Explanation of illustration above:
A) Dog receives a charge because it is in contact with the charged FENCE wire and
the GROUND wire at the same time.
B) Dog receives no charge because it is touching only the GROUND wire and not the
FENCE wire (or charged wire) at the same time.
C) Dog receives no charge because it is touching only the FENCE (or charged) wire
and is not grounded.
NOTE
: If you have installed a two-foot ground rod and do not get adequate charge on
your fence, you may need to install a 6–8' (1.8–2.4 m) metal ground rod.
Do not operate
any fence system without the use of a ground rod.
Remember, a chain-link fence is earth grounded and
cannot be electrified by hooking a charged FENCE wire
directly to the metal fence. The charged FENCE wire must
be insulated from the fence by using electric fence insula-

LIMITED WARRANTY
Woodstream warrants this fence energizer for one year from the date of sale to the
original consumer purchaser against defects in materials and workmanship. This war-
ranty does not cover fuses or circuit breakers where applicable. This warranty does not
cover damage to the energizer caused by storms, lightning, flood, misuse, alteration,
incorrect installation or handling or any other reason not related to product malfunc-
tions or defects in the materials or workmanship of this product. Defective units must
be sent to an authorized service center for repair. Call 1-800-800-1819 for the nearest
repair center. The warranty shall apply only while the original consumer purchaser
owns the product.

is limited to the purchase price of the product. The purchaser’s exclusive remedy shall
be only as stated herein.
Some jurisdictions do not allow limitation on how long an implied warranty lasts or
the exclusion or limitations of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limi-
