INSTALLATION

General

Induction  Ranges  are  shipped  completely  assembled  and

ready for use. Built-in units require installation into a countertop

(see procedure in this section). Care should be taken when

unpacking the shipping carton to avoid damage to the unit and

components enclosed.

ELECTRIC  ShOCK  hAzARD:  Unit  is  not  weatherproof.

Locate unit indoors where ambient air temperature is a

minimum of 21°C (70°F).

FIRE hAzARD:

• Locate unit a minimum of 51 mm (2″) from combustible

walls  and  materials.  If  safe  distances  are  not

maintained, discoloration or combustion could occur.

• Do not place unit near or underneath curtains or other

combustible materials. Items near or above unit could

catch fire causing injury and/or damage to unit.

Do not block or restrict air flow to air inlet filter or exhaust

fan on bottom of unit.

1. Remove the unit from the carton.
2. Remove the information packet from the carton.
3. Remove tape and protective packaging from surfaces of unit.

NOTE: To  prevent  delay  in  obtaining  warranty  coverage,

See

IMPORTANT OWNER INFORMATION

for details.

4. Determine and prepare an appropriate installation location.

Make sure the installation location:

• is level and made of non-combustible material.
• is strong enough to support the unit and its contents.
• provides  a  minimum  of  51  mm  (2″)  clearance  from

combustible materials.

• is large enough for all four feet of the unit to be positioned

securely on the countertop (countertop units).

5. Install the unit on the countertop. For built-in units, refer to

the “Installing Built-In Models” procedure in this section.

Installing Built-In Models

IRB1-3000 models are built-in hobs that require installation into

a countertop before operation.

NOTE: Make sure that the installation location allows access to

the underside of the unit for maintenance and cleaning

after it has been placed into the countertop.

1. Carefully measure and cut

the appropriate opening in

the  countertop.  Refer  to

the    “Countertop  Cutout

Dimensions” illustration.

NOTE: Make sure a minimum

51  mm  (2")  clearance

will

be

available

between  the  sides  of

the unit and any interior

surface. A minimum of

128  mm  (5")  will  be

needed  below  the

countertop  surface  for

the height of the unit.

2. If necessary, make structural modifications or add bracing

underneath the countertop to ensure the countertop will

support the weight of the unit and its contents.

NOTE: The  countertop  must  be  level  to  ensure  proper

operation of the Induction Range.

3. Make sure the cabinetry provides proper ventilation with

external air to the underside of the unit. If necessary, cut

ventilation  openings  in  the  cabinetry  to  provide  the

ventilation.  Louvered  or  grill-style  panels  should  be

installed in the openings.

4. Make sure a grounded electrical receptacle of the correct

voltage, size, and plug configuration is within 1829 mm

(72″)  inside  the  mounting  location  for  the  unit.  See  the

SPECIFICATIONS section for details.

5. Apply  a  bead  of  silicone  sealant  onto  the  countertop

material around the cutout opening.

6. Carefully lower the unit into the opening, making sure the

power cord does not get pinched.

7. Assemble mounting clips and mounting nuts to the eight

mounting studs on the underside of the unit.

NOTE: Mounting  clips  and  mounting  nuts  not  supplied—

provided by installer.

8. Tighten and readjust the mounting nuts on the mounting

clips until the flange lies flat on the countertop.

Do not use excessive force when tightening mounting nuts

on built-in units. This may damage unit and/or countertop.

9. Provide separation underneath the unit between the cooling

air inlet filter and the exhaust fan. This is necessary to prevent

hot exhaust air from being drawn back into the unit through

the cooling air inlet, which could cause the unit to overheat.
