16 Laser switch off alarm The laser switch is off. Verify that the Laser Switch located on the rear panel (see Section 3.4) is in the "on" position.
17 Fiber drawer optical
sensor alarm
The fiber drawer is not
closed completely. Verify that the fiber drawer has been closed completely.
18 Optical input power alarm Optical input power is
below threshold.
Confirm Input Power Level (see Section 2.2).
Go through connector cleaning procedure (see Section 6.1).
Recall factory settings by pressing the RCL function key on the front panel (see Section 2.1.2).
If that does not correct the problem, contact Customer Service (see Section 6.4).
19 Unit temperature alarm Unit temperature measured
at EDFA module is outside
of threshold range. Verify that the unit is operating within the proper temperature range (-20 to +60 deg C).
Verify that nothing is obstructing airflow through the openings in the front and back of the unit.
Recall factory settings by pressing the RCL function key on the front panel (see Section 2.1.2).
If that does not correct the problem, contact Customer Service (see Section 6.4).
20 Laser(s) temperature

Laser(s) temperature is
outside of threshold range. Verify that the unit is operating within the proper temperature range (-20° to +60° C).
Verify that nothing is obstructing airflow through the openings in the front and back of the unit.
Recall factory settings by pressing the RCL function key on the front panel (see Section 2.1.2).
If none of the above corrects the problem, contact Customer Service (see Section 6.4).
21 Laser(s) bias current

Check loss of optical power alarms.
Check low input alarm threshold. See Figure 2-6. HOA 7100 Alarms menu on page 2-6.
