Some areas require that a liner be installed to the top
of the flue, as shown in method #7. This method will
provide natural draft in the event of a power failure.
If the chimney condition is questionable or if the flue
size is larger than 8 X 8 inches, you should refer to
method #7. If choosing this method, increase the
vent pipe to 4 in. at the stove.

also provides natural draft in the event of a power
failure.
The damper area must be sealed with a steel
plate (not supplied). Kaowool, mineral wool, or an
equivalent non-combustible insulation is recom-
mended to be installed on top of the sealing plate.
This will help to reduce condensation. A cap should
be installed on the chimney to keep out rain. If the
chimney condition is questionable or if the flue size is
larger than 8 X 8 inches, you should refer to Method
#6. If choosing this method, increase the vent pipe
diameter to 4 inches at the stove.
