At the end of the burn season, brush and clean all sections
of chimney connector pipe. Some owners remove the
chimney connector for the off season. Any coal ashes left
in the connector pipe will actually draw moisture which
promotes rust. This is why it is very important to clean all
ashes at the end of the heating season.

The entire chimney should be professionally cleaned at
least once yearly. It is best to have this done at the end of
the heating season to be sure all ash is removed. You'll also
want to inspect the condition of the chimney prior to using
the appliance, to be sure there are no bird nests or the like.
