Framing
• The flange around the front of the cabinet must mate up to the finished face. Use the holes in the flange to secure the
cabinet. Alternately, extra mounting holes can be drilled through the cabinet where desired. Figure 5.
Framing and other combustible
materials are permitted to touch the
outside walls of the cabinet.

• When determining the depth in your framing dimensions, the thickness of the finish material and any backers must be
taken into consideration. Figure 6.
• To determine the proper floor protection, the hearth must extend a minimum; 15-1/4” (US) or 27-1/4” / 692mm (CAN)
from the finished wall face.
NOTE: Combustible materials may contact any exterior surface of the cabinet.
