4. At least 3 hours before disconnecting,
turn the thermostat control (3) to “6”.
This way, the frozen food gets a cold re-
serve and does not defrost as quickly.
5. After 3 hours, turn the thermostat control
to “OFF”.
6. Disconnect the mains plug from the
socket.
7. Take out the frozen food.
8. Unscrew the defrost water drain cap (10)
in the base of the freezer anti-clockwise
to drain the defrost water.

9. To accelerate defrosting, place a bowl of
hot, but not boiling, water in the freezer.
10. Place a bowl under the defrost water
drain (8) to catch escaping defrost water.
11. Unscrew the cap (11) from the defrost
water drain anti-clockwise.

12. Leave the lid open during defrosting.
The defrosting time depends on the
thickness of the ice layer. Experience
shows that you can start to clean the
chest freezer after approximately one
hour.
13. Carefully scrape off any stubborn ice
with the plastic scraper (9).
14. Wipe the interior with warm rinsing wa-
ter.
15. Clean the door seal. (See Section "Care
and maintenance" on page EN-17)
16. After cleaning, thoroughly rub everything
dry, including the door. Ventilate
everything for a short time.
17. Screw the cap back into the defrost wa-
ter drain at the base of the chest freezer.
18. Close the defrost water drain with the
cap.
19. Insert the mains plug back into the sock-
et and turn the thermostat control to “6”.
20. Once a temperature of -18 °C is
reached, you can put your frozen food
back in the freezer again. Set the ther-
mostat control to the desired cooling
capacity.
