Trigger Mode
Caution:
Do not select Manual Trigger unless you have provided a means to
trigger the scanner. The 3800E does not have a manual trigger
switch. To operate in this trigger mode, users must provide a switch
to ground the trigger line or use serial trigger commands via the serial
port interface (
see "Trigger Commands" on page 10-4
).
Default = Automatic Trigger
Manual/Serial Trigger: You can activate the scanner either by pressing the
trigger, or using a serial trigger command (see
"Serial Trigger Time Out" on
page 2-5
). When in manual trigger mode, the scanner scans until a bar code is
read, or until the trigger is released.
When in serial mode, the scanner scans until a bar code has been read or until
the deactivate command is sent. In serial mode, the scanner can also be set to
turn itself off after a specified time has elapsed (see
Serial Trigger Time Out
,
which follows).
Serial Trigger Time Out: Use this selection to set a time out (in quarter
seconds) of the scanner’s trigger when using serial commands to trigger the
scanner. Once the scanner has timed out, it must be triggered again either
serially (see
"Manual/Serial Trigger" on page 2-5
), or manually. After scanning
the Serial Trigger Time Out bar code, set the time out duration (from 0-1200
quarter seconds) by scanning digits from the inside back cover, then scanning
Save.
Default = 0 (infinite, or no time out).
Automatic Trigger: The scanner scans continuously at full power.
