2) Delete the contents of the IPSM
: Delete the contents of the IPSM directory of the
9500.
3)
Establish an ActiveSync connection to copy the UPG file: Copy the BNK100.UPG file
to the “\IPSM” folder on the Dolphin.
4) Execute the UPG file:
Using File Explorer, navigate to "\IPSM". Execute the UPG file
by ‘
single-tapping’
on the UPG file.
5) Version Info Dialog:
A Message box will be displayed showing the current and new
revisions. Any of the three upgradeable components that are not being updated will be
grayed out, and the new rev will display as “No Update”. Single-tap the "Install" button
one time. At this point, the system may appear to be unresponsive for ten seconds or
more while the upgrade file is processed.
6) Device Reboot:
The Dolphin will automatically reboot and begin to install the UPG file
contents. The flash upgrade process can take up to ten minutes. The screen will
contain a basic bootloader screen and the LED’s will flash during this time.
!! Warning !!
Do not attempt to manually reboot the system at this point or the
system may become unbootable
.
7) Enter the License Key:
Once the terminal reboots after upgrading from Pocket PC
2003 SE to Windows Mobile 5.0, you will be prompted to enter a license key. License
keys are device serial number specific. Find the serial number of the device in the list
of license keys provided by your sales representative. Enter the license key value
using the numeric keypad and type enter. Once you have entered the license key, the
device will prompt you if you wish to continue, ”y/n”? Enter Y, after a few moments the
device will boot to the Windows Mobile 5.0 Operating System.
8) Establish an ActiveSync connection to copy the Windows Mobile IPSM image

Copy the contents of the IPSM image to the IPSM directory of the 9500.

9) Reboot the terminal:
Press and hold the CTRL and ESC keys for 5 seconds.
Windows Mobile 5.0 Upgrade Procedure from Windows Mobile 5.0 release :

Apply External Power:
It is very important that the Dolphin not power fail during the
upgrade process. Therefore, you MUST place the Dolphin in a homebase or supply
power via a Dolphin Charge-Comm cable.
