How to Make Coffee

Before First Use:

Clean the urn by following the steps

in “How To Clean.”

1.

To remove the lid, push down on the glass knob
and turn counterclockwise until the locking tabs
completely clear the handles on each side of the
removable tank, then lift up.

2.

Take out the coffee basket and stem assembly.

3.

Unlock removable tank from base by pulling up on
tank locking clips. Remove the tank from the base.

4.

Fill with tap water to the level on Coffee Level
Indictor for desired number of cups. You must brew
a minumum of 10 cups. Depending on your model,
the coffee urn will make up to 45, 65, or 110 cups.
DO NOT OVERFILL THE COFFEE URN.

NOTE:

For best results, always use cold, fresh tap

water.

5.

Replace the tank onto the base. Lock tank on base
by pushing down on tank locking clips.

6.

Wet the basket (this helps to keep small particles of
coffee grinds from sifting through).

*Always keep the water and coffee amounts between

the minimum and maximum for your urn size.

NOTE:

We recommend using coffee that has been

ground specifically for use in a

percolator-type

coffee

maker. However, coffee marked “For All Coffee Makers”
is acceptable. If using a coffee grinder and whole
beans, percolator coffee should be a coarse grind. A
finely ground coffee may cause the coffee basket to
overflow and result in grounds in coffee.

7.

Place the stem assembly, spring side up, into the
tank. Place the basket on the stem. Make sure the
stem is properly seated in the heat well in the center
or the urn may not percolate.

8.

Place the lid on the body of the urn so that the
locking tabs are at the front and back of the urn.

9.

Holding the glass knob, turn the lid clockwise until
the locking tabs are fully engaged inside the fold
down handles on both sides of the urn.

10.

Plug in the urn. Turn the ON/OFF switch to the
ON/

I

position. The red ON indicator light will

illuminate and coffee will begin brewing within
seconds.

Do not plug in the urn when there is

no water or liquid inside.

11.

When the brewing cycle is complete, percolation
stops and the green READY light illuminates to
indicate the coffee is ready to serve.

12.

Press cup against the coffee dispensing bar.

13.

The urn will automatically switch to the Keep
Warm cycle, and will maintain fresh, hot coffee
until it is unplugged. If brewed coffee is to be kept
warm for a long period of time, the basket and
stem should be removed as soon as brewing is
complete. This will prevent bitter oils in the coffee
grounds from affecting the flavor of the coffee.

CAUTION!

Burn Hazard: The glass knob and

metal urn parts will be hot. Use a pot holder or
oven mitt to remove the lid.

14.

After coffee has been dispensed, or when you
want to clean urn, turn ON/OFF switch to the
OFF/

O

position. Disconnect plug from wall outlet

and allow the urn to cool before washing.

NOTES:
• To make additional coffee

, rinse the lid, coffee

basket, stem, and tank with cold water and repeat
steps 1 through 11.

• To reheat coffee

, remove the basket and stem.

Lock the lid in place and plug in the unit and turn
on for 20 to 60 minutes, depending on the amount
of coffee remaining. Do not reheat if less than 20
cups are left in the urn.
