Warning - Batteries
•
When inserting batteries, note the correct polarity (+ and -
markings) and insert the batteries accordingly. Failure to do so
could result in the batteries leaking or exploding.
•
Only use batteries (or rechargeable batteries) that match the
specified type.
•
Before you insert the batteries, clean the battery contacts and the
polarity contacts.
•
Do not allow children to change batteries without supervision.
•
Do not mix old and new batteries, or batteries of different types or
from different manufacturers.
•
Remove the batteries from products that are not being used for
an extended period (unless these are being kept ready for an
emergency).
•
Do not short-circuit batteries.
•
Do not charge batteries.
•
Do not burn batteries.
•
Keep batteries out of the reach of children.
•
Never open, damage or swallow batteries or allow them to enter
the environment. They can contain toxic, environmentally harmful
heavy metals.
•
Remove spent batteries from the product and dispose of them
without delay.
•
Avoid storing, charging and using in extreme temperatures and at
extremely low atmospheric pressures (such as at high altitudes).
Warning - Button cells
•
Do not swallow the battery. Burning hazard from hazardous
substances.
•
This product contains button cells. If the button cell is swallowed,
serious internal burns can occur within 2 hours and ultimately lead
to death.
•
Keep new and used batteries out of the reach of children.
•
If the battery compartment will no longer close securely, stop using
the product and keep it away from children.
•
If you suspect that batteries have been swallowed or are in any
part of the body, seek medical attention immediately.
5. The principle of air purification
•
A fan in the device draws in room air via the air inlets.
•
The pre-filter is located at the top of the filter system for the initial
filtration of impurities. Larger particles such as dandruff, hair and
dust are filtered out.
•
Afterwards, the sucked-in air flows through the Hepa 13 filter. The
abbreviation HEPA stands for "High Efficiency Particulate Air". The
HEPA filter consists of a very fine fibre material. It has the ability to
capture the smallest particles down to a size of between 0.1 to 0.3
μm, achieving a separation efficiency of 99.95%. Thus, it can filter
bacteria (0.6 to 1.0 μm); fine dust (0.1 - 10 μm) and pollen (10 - 100
μm) from the air.
•
The air then flows through an activated charcoal filter with a cold
catalyst layer
•
It filters out formaldehyde, benzene, other gases and unpleasant
odours. Activated charcoal has an excellent absorption capacity. It
can deodorise, dehumidify and in some cases trap viruses and have
a sterilising effect.
•
The ioniser releases negatively charged ions into the air. These
combine with the positively charged dirt particles to form larger
particles that can be separated more easily.
•
The filtered air is discharged into the room at the air outlet.
6. Start-up and operation
6.1 Inserting/changing the filter
Warning
•
Make sure that the product is disconnected from the mains.
•
Since the filter contains all the collected pollutants, it should only
be changed outdoors and with appropriate care against contact
contamination (gloves/respiratory protection).
The filter must be inserted before the first start-up.
To do this, proceed as follows:
•
Pull the front panel upwards away from the air intake openings with
both hands.
•
Remove the used filter, if any, and dispose of it in your household
waste.
•
Remove the new filter from the protective packaging and insert it into
the device. The black side of the activated charcoal filter must face
the device.
•
First the thick cassette is inserted into the device, then the thinner
coarse filter.
•
For easier mounting, retaining tabs are attached to the upper filter
ends. These must point outwards towards the front panel.
•
Place the filter at the bottom of the filter chamber and insert it using
the retaining tab.
•
Replace the front panel and snap it into place.
7. Switching the device on/off
Warning
•
Only operate the product from an approved socket that is
connected to the public power supply. The socket must be installed
close to the product and must be easily accessible.
•
Disconnect the product from the power supply using the On/Off
switch – if this is not available, unplug the power cord from the
socket.
•
If using a multi-socket power strip, make sure that the total power
consumption of all connected devices does not exceed the power
strip's maximum throughput rating.
•
If you will not be using the product for a prolonged period,
disconnect it from mains power.
•
Connect the mains lead on the air filter to a properly installed socket.
•
Switch the air filter on using the
OFF/ON
button (16).
8. Care and maintenance
Note
Disconnect the device from the mains before cleaning and during
prolonged periods of non-use.
Only clean this product with a slightly damp, lint-free cloth and do not
use aggressive cleaning agents.
•
Ensure that no water is able to enter the product.
* See also the "Replace Filter" section for detailed cleaning instructions.
