Operating instruction
Thank you for choosing a Hama product.
Take your time and read the following instructions and
information completely. Keep these operating instructions
in a safe place for future reference.
1. Explanation of Warning Symbols and Notes

2. Extent of Delivery

3. Safety Instructions
•
This product is intended for private, non-commercial
use only.
•
Use the product for its intended purpose only.
•
Protect the product from dirt, moisture and overheating,
•
and only use it in dry locations.
•
Do not use the product in the immediate vicinity of
heaters or other heat sources or in direct sunlight.
•
Lay all cables so that they do not pose a tripping hazard.
•
Do not bend or crush the cable.
•
Do not drop the product and do not expose it to any
major shocks.
•
Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not
play with the product.
•
Dispose of packaging material immediately according to
locally applicable regulations.
•
Do not modify the device in any way. Doing so voids the
warranty.

Do not attempt to service or repair the product
yourself. Leave any and all service work to qualified
experts.

4. Systemvorrausetzung
• Computer or laptop with at least one free USB port
• Windows Vista / 7 / 8.x
• Mac OS X 10.8.x / 10.9.x / 10.10.x
• Linux with kernel 2.6.34 or later
5. Installation and Operation
5.1 Installation on Windows 7 and 8.x
A suitable driver is usually included with these Windows
operating systems; you do not have to manually install a
driver.
•
Start your operating system and connect the USB-to-
serial converter to a free USB port.
•
Your system then recognizes and installs the cable.
5.2 Installation on Windows Vista
With these Windows versions you will need to install the
included driver on the CD-ROM before you can use the
converter.
•
Place the enclosed CD-ROM in the computer’s CD-ROM
drive and open “My Computer”.
•
Locate the „Driver” -> „Win” directory on the CD-ROM
and open it. The right driver is located there.
•
Click the executable (.EXE) file that is located there to
install the driver.
•
Follow the instructions for the driver installation
program.
•
The USB cable will now be detected by the system and
installed. The USB-to-serial converter will be ready for
use after restarting Windows.
Note - Windows Vista
You can check whether the converter was installed
successfully under Start (Windows logo) -> Control
Panel -> System and Maintenance -> Device Manager.
In some circumstances, User Access Control may
ask you to approve this action. To do this, click ->
Continue. The following entry must appear without a
yellow exclamation mark:
