The combined safety valve must be connected to the cold water branch observing the
flow direction indicated by the arrow. The maximum distance between the appliance
and the valve is 2 m, and two bends (arcs knees) are permitted.
The appliance has to be installed with the safety valve regulated at an operation pres
-
sure of max. 7 bar. The safety valve must be mounted directly in front of the tank, on
the cold water pipe branch, in a frost-free environment. The drainage pipe has to be
connected to the safety valve, in such way that it is always directed downwards and lo
-
cated in a frost-free environment. In case of a valve with 7 bar operating pressure, the
feed pressure of incoming cold water may not exceed 5.25 bar. If the valve pressure
is lower, the maximum feed pressure has to be defined observing the min-max toler
-
ance limits of the safety valve. If it exceeds this value, a pressure reducer should be in
-
serted in front of the safety valve.
The safety valve is not included in the accessories of the appliance.
IT IS FORBIDDEN TO INSERT WATER PIPELINE FITTINGS
BETWEEN THE VALVE AND THE APPLIANCE .
Before installing the valve, the cold water pipeline must be carefully flushed, in order
to avoid damages due to possible contaminations. The combined safety valve contains
a one-way valve. Therefore, it is not necessary to mount a separate one-way valve.
During heat-up, the expanding water has to leak through the drainage pipe branch of
the combined safety valve. When installing the valve, make sure that this leaking re
-
mains visible.
IT IS FORBIDDEN TO CLOSE THE DRAINAGE PIPE BRANCH OR
TO DIVERT WATER LEAKAGE IN A NON-VISIBLE WAY .
The water may drip from the discharge pipe of the pressure-relief device and that pipe
must be left open to the atmosphere.
If the pressure of the pipeline exceeds 0.6 MPa, even on a temporary basis, a pres
-
sure reduction valve has to be mounted in front of the hot water tank at the loca
-
tion of item No. 3 in Figure 2.5.-1. If there is no pressure reduction valve present, the
safety valve will leak under pressure outside the heating cycle too. It is the user’s duty
to purchase and install the pressure reduction valve. If the combined safety valve is
not directly connected to the hot water tank using the reducer, a discharge faucet or
valve should be mounted on the cold water pipe of the appliance (directly in front of
it) along with the insertion of a standard T fitting, in order to enable the drainage of
the hot water tank. It is the user’s duty to purchase the valve (faucet). Any number of
taps and faucets can be mounted on the hot water container. To block the back-flow
of hot water through the outlet towards the cold water pipeline, it is recommended to
insert a one-way valve in the cold water pipe in front of the taps. A closing valve needs
to be installed in the cold water pipeline leading to the container, in front of the fittings
(combined safety valve, one-way valve, etc.). This closing valve enables to disconnect
the hot water tank and the water pipeline fittings from the water supply system (in
case of a failure or other maintenance work).
