Where the driven shaft is heavily loaded and is
subject to high stresses, for example for changes
in the direction of rotation and/or load, it is recom-
mended that the driven shaft should have a stress
relieving groove; see Fig. 7 and tables 4 and 6.
Normally loaded shaft
In drives with only one direction of ro ta tion and/or
load where the stresses in the shaft are mo de ra te, the
shaft can be plain, see Fig. 8 and tables 4 and 6.
