Preparing for installation
H3C SecPath M9000-AI multiservice security gateways include the M9000-AI-E8 gateway and
M9000-AI-E16 gateway.
Inspecting the gateway
Before installing the gateway, perform the following steps to inspect all items in the shipping
container with the presence of the service party:
1.
Check the packing list to verify that all the items are as ordered.
2.
Verify that the gateway, tamper evident seals, and anti-counterfeit labels are not damaged and
then sign for confirmation.
3.
Unpack the gateway, check the accessories against the packing list, and keep them safe for
future use.
4.
If anything appears to be damaged, take photos and keep the original packing materials,
padding materials, and accessories.
As a best practice, keep the packing materials for later moving or shipment.
ESD prevention
To prevent electronic components from electrostatic discharge (ESD) damage, wear an ESD wrist
strap and insert it into the ESD socket on the chassis. Make sure the ESD wrist strap makes good
skin contact and is reliably grounded before you service the gateway or its components.
NOTE:
The M9000-AI multiservice security gateways have an ESD socket at both of the front and rear.
Examining the installation site
Make sure the installation site meets the cooling and space requirements.
Space
For easy installation and maintenance, make sure the following requirements are met:
•
Make sure the rack has enough space (in height and depth) to accommodate the gateway.
•
A minimum clearance of 1.2 m (3.94 ft) is reserved between the rack and walls or other
gateways.
•
The rack allows front and rear access to the gateway.
