GT Bicycle Owner’s Manual
Handlebar/ Stem Security
Before riding the bike, test to determine
whether the handlebar stem is secure:
• Place the front wheel of the bike between your
legs and strongly try to twist the handlebar/
stem assembly side-to-side with significant
force (about 30-40 lbs.).
• If you can twist the handlebar stem relative to
the front wheel, the stem bolts that clamp the
stem to the fork are too loose. Tighten to the
torque specified on the stem and test again. DO
NOT exceed upper limit of torque range.
• If the stem still moves, contact your retailer or
call 1-800- BIKEUSA for further assistance. DO
NOT RIDE THE BIKE.

Seat Post Security:
Before riding the bike, test to determine
whether the seat and seat post are
secure:
• Firmly grab the front of the seat and try hard to
move it up and down, then side to side.
• If you can move the seat relative to the seat
post, the bolt or bolts that clamp the seat to the
top of the seat post are too loose. Tighten to the
torque specified on the seat post or 7Nm and
test again. DO NOT exceed upper limit of torque
range.
• If you can move the seat post relative to the
frame, the clamp bolt or seat post quick release
is too loose. Tighten to the torque specified or
7Nm and test again. DO NOT exceed upper limit
of torque range.
• If the seat or seat post still moves, contact your
retailer or call 1-800- BIKEUSA for further
assistance. DO NOT RIDE THE BIKE.
