SAT Recording Control via a
GRUNDIG Video Recorder (VIDEO
CONTROL)

In connection with the Timer of a GRUNDIG video
recorder which is prepared accordingly, it is possi-
ble to switch the reception unit B on and off with a
preselected programme position. In this case,
Timer programming is exclusively performed on the
video recorder. The reception unit B can be started
and stopped with up to 8 Timers of the video
recorder.

The control signals are sent via a control cable from
the video recorder to the receiver.

Connect the Cinch socket VIDEO CONTROL of the
STR 622 TWIN with the corresponding socket of
the video recorder. The cable required can be
purchased at a specialized dealer or is supplied with
the video recorder.

The following programming methods via the video
recorder are possible.

– Timer programming without VPS.

– Timer programming of 1 broadcast with VPS.

– Timer programming of several broadcasts

with VPS.

Timer programming without VPS

At the programmed time, the video recorder
switches the reception unit B on from stand-by with
the preset programme position, or switches from
any programme position to the preset programme
position.

Therefore the SAT receiver can be used in any way
until the Timer switch-on time is reached.

Enter the start and stop times of the desired broad-
cast as described in the user manual of the video
recorder.

Ń

!

Note that you must programme

SAT broadcasts

(not terrestrial broadcasts).

Clear the VPS sign.

Ń

!

During the programmed Timer time, the reception
unit B is protected against programme changes
(display on the receiver: “

rEc

”).

If several Timer times are programmed, certain
video recorders are protected against programme
changes also between the Timer times.

After the Timer recording the STR 622 TWIN
switches back to stand-by when it has been in
stand-by before and did not receive any commands
or remote commands during the recording time.

Certain video recorders switch the receiver to
stand-by after every elapsed Timer time (event),
other video recorders do this only after the last
Timer event.

In the second case it may be of advantage to use
the internal Timers as these always switch between
the events to stand-by.

Timer programming of 1 broadcast
with VPS

Enter the start and stop times of the desired broad-
cast as described in the user manual of the video
recorder.

Ń

!

Note that you must programme a

SAT broadcast

(not a terrestrial broadcast).

After completing VPS programming on the video
recorder, the corresponding programme position is
automatically selected on reception unit B.

Ń

!

The reception unit B now is protected against pro-
gramme changes (display on the receiver: “

rEc

”).

Timer programming of several
broadcasts with VPS

Enter the start and stop times of the desired broad-
casts as described in the user manual of the video
recorder.

Ń

!

Note that you must programme

SAT broadcasts

(not terrestrial broadcasts).

If broadcasts on different programme positions are
to be recorded, the video recorder switches the
reception unit B continuously between these pro-
gramme positions in order to not to miss the begin-
ning of a broadcast.

If several VPS Timer times are programmed it may
happen that remote control commands for the
reception unit A are executed with a certain delay or
not at all. In this case, use the control keys on the
front side of the receiver.

Ń

!

Reception unit B is protected against inadvertent
programme changes (display on the receiver:

rEc

”) until all Timer recordings with VPS are com-

pleted.

Aborting Timer programming

When switching off the Timer in the menu of the
video recorder, the reception unit B is availalbe
again.
