INSTALLING THE COVER FILM
(Sku numbers ending in
FF include the cover film. Additional purchase is required
for all other skus.)
NOTE
: Assistance is required to install the cover.
BASEBOARD INSTALLATION
If a cover is to be installed, the installation requires a
baseboard to be attached to the frame and ground posts.
The baseboard is supplied by the customer and is attached
to the outside of the ground posts. This baseboard runs
along the outside of the frame assembly at ground level (or
slightly into grade) and must remain level throughout the
length of the cold frame.
Gather the parts:
• Treated or recycled plastic lumber (supplied by
customer).
• QH1070 brackets (previously attached if used)
• Tek screws
ANCHOR THE ASSEMBLED FRAME
At this point, anchor the cold frame. Consult the
MUST READ document for anchoring information and
suggestions. Please call customer service at 1-800-245-
9881 for additional anchoring information.
CAUTION
: The anchor assembly is an integral part of
the cold frame construction. Improper anchoring may
cause instability and failure of the structure to perform
as designed. Failing to anchor the shelter properly
will void the manufacturer’s warranty and may cause
serious injury and damage.
If the QH1070 brackets were attached to the ground posts
as described earlier in these instructions, the baseboard
can be secured using lag screws or bolts, washers, and
nuts.
ATTENTION:
The baseboard and all parts needed to
attach the baseboard to the frame, except for the QH1070
brackets, are not included and must be purchased
separately by the customer.
Contact Customer Service at 1-800-245-9881 to purchase
baseboard and the parts needed to attach the baseboard.
NOTE:
When installing the baseboard, allow it to extend
beyond the end rafters so it can be attached to the QH1070
brackets if these are used.
Insert shows ground post as seen from the inside of the
shelter.
FINISH ROUGH EDGES
Gather the parts:
• Duct tape (supplied by customer)
• Metal file
1. Check for any sharp edges on the frame and file them
smooth so they will not cut the cover.
2. Apply two layers of heavy duct tape on all pipe
connections and clamps that may contact the cover.
