WARNING:
Do not allow personnel within the MPEL (maximum permissible
exposure level) boundary of the antenna when operating the airborne
radar system on the ground. Telephonics recommends a safe distance
of 7 feet.
1.6.1 Operating
Precautions
(1) The installed radar system should not be allowed to transmit while the aircraft is inside a hangar or
other enclosure because radiation within the enclosure can be reflected throughout the area.
(2) Neither should transmission be allowed during refueling or de-fueling operations nor in the
vicinity of combustible materials. Operability of the radar system may be verified without
operating the radar transmitter by using the TEST mode.
(3) Flash bulbs can be exploded by radar energy.
(4) Since storm patterns are never stationary, the display is constantly changing, and continued
observation is always advisable where areas of turbulence prevail.
1.6.2
