Duct Connections

Installation of all ducts should be done in accordance
with SMACNA and AMCA guidelines.
Connect primary exhaust air ducts to unit using
flanged connections. Screw ducts directly to unit
using stainless steel self-tapping sheet metal screws.
Contractor is responsible for providing transitions
to accommodate difference in sizing between unit
and building ducts. Duct connections to collar-type
openings can be made with S-cleats or overlapping
joints. Apply caulking around the duct connection.
Failure to ensure a tight fit and properly seal duct
connections can cause air leakage and system
performance problems from the contaminated
airstream.
