PREPARATION
Consider the following information when preparing and using the pump:
•
The diameter of the hole must be greater than the diameter of the pump. For example, if the pump is 100 mm,
the diameter of the hole must be large enough to introduce the pump, cables, hoses, float switches, etc.
•
If the pump is used in greater depths of the electrical connection cable, the entire cable must be replaced by
another one with an adequate length. The replacement of the cable must be done by a qualified electrician. As
the length of the cable increases, the cable gauge also increases to avoid loss of power (voltage drop) by the
length of the cable that can affect the operation / efficiency of the pump.
ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS
Some pumps are equipped with an electrical control box that accepts 240 V AC single phase and converts it into a
three phase output. The control box provides a switch to start / stop the pump and can be equipped with an overload
circuit breaker. The pump cable must be connected to the control box, which in turn requires an electrical supply. The
control box and pump cables should be connected as follows:
FLOAT SWITCHES
Some pumps are equipped with a float switch that is used to automatically switch the pump from ON to OFF depending
on the water level in the hole / reservoir. This is to prevent the pump from “dry” operation. The float switch, when
in vertical position (floating) allows the pump to operate - if the water level is reduced and the switch is no longer in
the vertical position, the pump stops. Make sure that the switch has the space to move freely - if the area around the
pump is too small, the switch can be trapped in the vertical position and will not work properly.
