No braking - one
wheel
Brake lining worn or missing Inspect and repair as needed.
Brake chamber frozen Inspect and repair as needed.
Air/hydraulic brakes - damaged diaphragm
in brake chamber Replace brake chamber.
Brake parts broken or missing Inspect and repair as needed.
Brake adjusting rod too short Lengthen brake adjusting rod
No braking, both
wheels
Loss of fluid in brake lines Check for fluid loss at all fittings and bleed
ports. Close/repair, recharge and bleed.
Line(s) to tractor improperly connected Check connections.
Trailer brake system disabled or
malfunctioning in tractor Check function with another trailer.
Tractor line pressure insufficient Have dealer check pressure at port.
Brake adjusting rods too short Lengthen brake adjusting rods
Drill pulling to one
side
See “ Dragging brake ”. Check dragging brake causes before flat
spots develop on tires.
Brakes always
engaged - both wheels
Brakes adjusted too tight Shorten brake adjusting rods
Hydraulic brakes - supply line is causing
brakes to be always on.
Air brakes - tractor air brake lines reversed. Reverse air line connections at hitch.
Hydraulic brakes - Drill brake line connected
to incorrect always-on remote. Connect drill brake line to correct remote.
Hydraulic brakes - Pressure supplied by
tractor brake line is always too high.
Air brakes - Air pressure to high. Maximum allowed hydraulic pressure is
150 bar
Minimum required air pressure is 550 kPa
Dragging brake
One brake adjusted too tight Shorten brake adjusting rod.
Debris in brakes Remove brake shoes. Clean and dry.
Distorted brake parts scraping Replace damaged parts.
Hydraulic brakes - weak return spring Replace all springs.
Hydraulic brakes - seized in brake chamber Rebuild or replace brake chamber.
Brakes grab, chatter
or rattle
Hydraulic brakes - weak return springs Replace all springs.
Drum worn, distorted or out of round Re-surface drum if run-out is within
specification, otherwise replace.
Under-inflated or undersized tire in pair Replace tire if inflation to specification does
not solve unequal contact problem.
Loose, worn, damaged or missing brake
components in hub Inspect brakes.
Loose or worn wheel bearings Replace bearings.
Flat spots on tires
