1.6 Operating the Air Valve to Raise a Load
1.
Once the lift has been positioned under the load to be lifted (according to the safety instructions on the lift),
operate the air valve handle slowly to carefully raise the saddles to engage (capture) the lift points of the
vehicle (see Figure 1).
2.
After the saddles make contact with the lift points, visually recheck their position to be sure the load is
properly seated for lifting. Be careful not to put any part of your body (e.g., arms, hands, fingers, etc.)
between the saddle and the lift point on the vehicle. When raising or lowering, the operator should check to
make sure nobody else is in the immediate work area.
3.
Continue raising the load to a height slightly above the desired working height by holding the air valve
handle in the position to raise. It is necessary to raise above the desired working height since the load will
be lowered onto vehicle support stands at the desired working height.
4.
Lower the lift onto the nearest down stop lug by operating the air valve handle to exhaust air (see Figure 2).
Do not operate the down stop release lever or else the lift will not properly engage the down stop lug. Be
sure to continue exhausting air even after the lift engages the down stop lug to ensure there is no air
remaining in the cylinder before continuing.
When using this lift to raise a load you must consider the following:
NEVER allow any part of your body to pass under the load until the lift is resting on a
down stop lug and all air has been exhausted from the cylinder. This lift is a lifting
device only- it is not intended to support a vehicle for extended periods of time. Only
go under a load supported by this lift to place and remove vehicle support stands.
Failure to follow these instructions could result in serious injury and/or death.
NEVER use this lift in conjunction with any other jack or lift.
NEVER use this lift to raise one end of a load if the other end of the load is not resting on
the ground.
