Upshifting
Precautions
For a smooth start, select a starting gear
that will provide sufficient reduction for
the load and terrain.
Always use normal double-clutching pro-
cedures when making lever shifts.
Never slam or jerk the shift lever to com-
plete gear engagement.
Never coast with the gear shift lever in
neutral.
Never make a range shift when in reverse.
Never downshift at too high of a road
speed.
Never move the Deep Reduction Button
or the Range Preselection Lever with the
gear shift lever in neutral while vehicle is
moving.
Depress accelerator pedal to increase engine speed
to high idle depress clutch and shift to next lower
gear. If shift timing has been correct, gears will
mesh smoothly with no clash.
Release clutch evenly and depress accelerator as
appropriate for conditions.
IMPORTANT NOTES:
The following
procedure/s make assumptions which you

Conditions may require travel in Lo Lo.
In
this situation, continue with steps 4 thru 10.
Conditions may permit travel in Lo.
In this
situation, continue with steps 11 thru 18.
Conditions may require starting travel in
reverse.
In this situation, choose either Lo Lo
procedure or Lo procedure as appropriate and
select reverse gear instead of a forward gear.
Do
not
