Blocking Programs Based on MPAA Ratings
The MPAA rating system uses the
M
otion
P
icture
A
ssociation of America (
MPAA
) system, which applies
primarily to movies. Many videocassettes are also encoded with MPAA ratings. When the V-CHIP is enabled, the
TV will automatically block any programs that are coded with objectionable ratings (either MPAA or TV-
Ratings).

If the TV is tuned to a restricted channel, the V-CHIP
will block it. The screen will go black and you will be
prompted to enter a password to temporarily
unblock it. To resume V-CHIP blocking, turn the TV
off and then back on again.
