Boil-dry protection
This kettle has a boil-dry protection. It means that
the kettle will automatically switch off if it is
accidentally switched on when there is no or not
enough water in it. The on/off switch will stay in
‘on’ position, but the power-on light will switch off.
Set the on/off switch to
‘off ’ and let the kettle cool
down for 10 minutes. Then lift the kettle from its
base to reset the boil-dry protection. The kettle is
now ready for use.
Before first use
1. If there are any stickers, remove them from the
base or kettle.
2. Place the base on a dry, stable and flat surface.
3. You can adjust the length of the cord by wounding
up the cord winder clockwise to make it shorter or
anticlockwise to make it longer.
4. Fill the kettle with water.
5. Fill the kettle with water up to the maximum level
and let it boil once
(see ‘Using theappliance’).
6. Pour out the hot water and fill the kettle once more.
Using the appliance
1. Open the lid by pressing the lid release button.
2. Fill the kettle with water.
You can fill the kettle either through the spout or
through the open lid.
3. Close the lid.
Make sure that the lid is properly closed, to prevent
the kettle from boiling dry.
4. Place the kettle on its base.
5. Put the plug in the wall socket.
6. Set th
e on/off switch to ‘on’.
The power-on light goes on and the kettle starts
heating up.
The kettle switches off automatically when the
water reaches the boiling point.
Cleaning and descaling
Always unplug the appliance before cleaning.
Do not use any abrasive cleaning agents, scourers
etc. to.
Never immerse the kettle or its base in water.
Cleaning the filter
Scale is not harmful to your health but it may give
your drink a powdery taste. Antiscale filter
prevents scale particles from ending up in your
drink and has a mesh that attracts scale from the
water. Clean the anti-scale filter regularly.
Clean the triple-clean anti-scale filter by following
the next steps:
1. Take the filter out of the kettle.
2. Slide the basket off the filter and take mesh out of
the basket.
3. Clean the mesh under a running tap.
4. Gently clean the filter with a soft nylon brush.
You can also leave the filter in the kettle when
descaling the whole appliance (see ‘Descaling
the kettle’).
You can also take the filter out of the kettle
and clean it in the diswasher.
5. After cleaning the filter under the tap or in the
dishwasher, put it back into the kettle by sliding it
behind the brackets.
Descaling the kettle
Regular descaling will prolong the life of the kettle.
In case of normal use (up to 5 times a day), the
following descaling frequency is recommended:
Once every 3 months for soft water areas.
Once every month for hard water areas.
1. Fill the kettle with water up to three-quarters of the
maximum level and boil the water.
2. After the kettle switches off, add white vinegar (8%
acetic acid) to the maximum level.
3. Leave the solution in the kettle overnight.
4. Empty the kettle and wash.
5. Fill the kettle with clean water and boil the water.
6. Empty the kettle and wash it with clean water
again.
Repeat the procedure if there is still some scale in
the kettle.
You can also use an appropriate descaler. In that
case, follow the instructions on the package of the
descaler.
Environment
Do not throw away the appliance with the normal
household waste at the end of its life, but hand it in
at an official collection point for recycling. By doing
this, you help to preserve the environment.
