15. DIGITAL ANTI SHOCK OPERATION

The  DIGITAL ANTI SKIP PROTECTION system incorporates a special electronic
circuit that prevents sound from skipping when the unit is subject to shocks and vibration
during playback.

When the unit receives a physical shock which prevents the laser pick-up from “READING”
the CD, this system immediately starts playing the sound stored in its memory and continues
until the laser pick-up recovers.

If the unit is subject to continuous shocks and all the data stored in memory is used up the
sound will start to skip.

When playback is started, the SKIP PROTECTION system turns on automatically and the
protection function is activated.

• During CD disc playback, “ESP” is shown in the display.

16. LISTENING TO THE RADIO

1. Insert the headphone /  earphone plug to PHONE SOCKET.
2. Set  the CD/RADIO switch to “RADIO“ position , the frequency

reading  will be displayed.

3. Press the TUN DN button or TUN UP button briefly to tune in

the desired radio station manually.

4. Keep the TUN DN button or TUN UP  button depressed for more than 1 second and then

release to activate the auto-tuning mode.
When a radio station of sufficient strength is found, auto-tuning will stop automatically and
the radio station will be tuned in. The Frequency Reading of the radio station will be displayed
on the LCD Panel . When a FM stereo program is being received, the “ST” INDICATOR will
appear.

* If the station signal  is weak and there is a large amount of noise(hiss), press the PLAY/FM

MO/ST button once to select FM MONO mode, the “ST” indicator will disappear,   press
again for return stereo mode.

5. Adjust the VOLUME CONTROL to obtain the desired sound level.
6. Slide the BASS BOOST SWITCH to 'ON' for enhanced bass effect of the radio program.
7. When you  wish  to turn the Digital Tuner 'OFF', set the CD/RADIO switch to “CD”  position.

Storing and Recalling Radio Stations in Preset Memory
The tuner has a capacity of 10 preset stations for  FM band which allow you to store and
recall your favourite  FM radio stations at the touch of a button.

A. To Store a Station
1. Tune in the station to store in preset memory by manual or

auto tuning.

2. Press the MODE / PROG / MEM button and the “MEM”

INDICATOR  will flash in the LCD panel for 5 seconds.(Press
again to cancel)

3. Before the flashing stops, press PRESET UP or PRESET

DN button to select preset no. #1 to # 10, press the MODE /
PROG / MEM button again to store the current radio station
into the selected preset memory.

4. Repeat steps 1 to 3 to store a radio station into the rest of the

Preset Memories.

B. To Recall a Station
1. Press PRESET UP or PRESET DN button to recall # 1 to #

10 preset stations.

NOTES -The headphone cord works as a FM aerial. To insure maximum FM tuner sensitivity,

always keep the headphone cord fully extended. Do not wind or fold the headphone
cord while listening to the radio.
