Danger of fire and burn injuries
• Always use extreme care when handling fuel. Fuel is
highly flammable.
• Never attempt to fuel the line trimmer if the fuel system components are
damaged or are leaking.
• Never attempt to refuel the engine while it is running or still warm; allow
it to cool before fueling.
• Never smoke or light any fires near the line trimmer or fuels.
• Always transport and store fuels in an approved container.
• Never place flammable material close to the engine exhaust.
• Do not use petrol which contains ethanol or methanol as it may damage
the fuel lines and other engine parts.
• Mix only enough fuel for your immediate needs. If fuel must be stored
longer than 30 days, it should first be treated with a stabilizer or
similar product.
motor fuel: Mix the petrol and oil at 40:1 ONLY.
• Use fresh unleaded petrol. You must use 100% synthetic oil specifically
made for heavily stressed two-stroke engines.
• Mix the petrol and oil in an approved container. Never mix fuel directly
in the line trimmer fuel tank.
• Place the unit upright on the ground or on a sturdy bench and wipe any
debris from around the fuel cap.
• Unscrew the fuel tank cap and pour the mixture into the tank with the
aid of a funnel.
• Be careful not to spill any mixture. If this happens, wipe the spill with
a clean rag.
• Start the engine at least three metres away from the area where the fuel
tank has been filled up in order to avoid any risk of fire.
StartInG the enGIne
• Move the ignition switch to the ON position marked ‘I’.
• Move the choke lever up to the start position (cold start).
note: This is not required if the engine is already warm.
• Push the primer button 6 times, so that the petrol/oil mixture flows in
and out of the discharge hose located above the fuel tank.
• Pull the recoil starter 2-3 times until you hear the engine starting.
• Push the choke lever down to the run position (warm start).
• The engine may start, or it may be required to pull on the recoil starter
more times until the engine starts.
• Allow the engine to run idle for around 10 seconds to let it warm up.
•
To engage the cutting line, squeeze the safety lever and
throttle trigger.
StoppInG the enGIne
Warning: The cutting line will continue to rotate for a few seconds after
the engine has stopped.
•
Release the throttle trigger and allow the engine to idle for
a few moments.
• Move the ignition switch to the off position marked STOP.
runnInG In the enGIne
• During the first 5 hours of work, run the engine at a moderate RPM.
•
The engine will reach its maximum power at the end of the
run-in period.
uSInG the trImmer
• When cutting, always wear safety glasses, face protection, protective
clothing, and use the harness.
• This trimmer is suitable for trimming high grass and weeds.
• Examine the territory and determine the desired cutting height. Hold the
cutting head at the desired height to achieve an even cutting result.
• Swing the trimmer in sickle-like movements from side to side.
• Always hold the cutting head parallel to the ground.
• Operate alone without assistance. Do not allow anyone within a
15 metre radius from the operator.
• Balance the line trimmer to your right in a natural position while holding
it with the handle grips.
• If several trimmers are in use simultaneously, keep minimum 15 metre
distance between operators.
• Ensure you have a firm footing when using the trimmer. Do not operate
during rain.
• Ensure the engine is off and power switch in the STOP position
before attempting to remove foreign objects wound around
the cutter housing.
uSInG the lIne trImmer
The line trimmer spool has a bump feed mechanism. To advance the line,
bump the base of the spool assembly onto the ground whilst maintaining
a moderate engine speed.
If the head does not properly extend the nylon line: turn off the engine,
allow the spool to come to a complete halt and move the ignition switch
to the STOP position before inspecting the head.
maIntenance
air filter
Accumulated dust in the air filter will reduce engine efficiency, increase
fuel consumption and allow abrasive particles to pass into the engine.
Remove the air filter and clear regularly.
• Remove filter cover.
• Tap the filter to remove light surface dust.
• Wash out heavy deposits in a suitable solvent.
fuel filter
• The fuel tank is fitted with a filter situated at the free end of the fuel
pipe. This can be picked out through the fuel port with a piece of hooked
wire or similar.
• Check the fuel filter periodically. Do not allow dust to enter the fuel
tank. A clogged filter will make the engine more difficult to start and can
cause abnormalities in engine performance.
• Replace the filter when dirty.
• When the inside of the fuel tank is dirty clean it by rinsing it out
with petrol.
checking the spark plug
Check the spark plug every 10-15 hours of use.
• Remove the spark plug cover.
• Use the spark plug wrench to remove the spark plug by turning it
anti-clockwise.
• Clean and adjust the spark plug gap to 0.6 - 0.7mm.
• Replace damaged or visibly worn plug with a TORCH L8RTC or
equivalent spark plug.
• Install the spark plug finger tight in the cylinder head, then tighten it
firmly with the spark plug wrench.
StoraGe
• When you finish working, clean the trimmer completely, making sure
there is no grass or dirt wrapped around the cutting head.
• Take care not to damage the fuel tank when putting the tool on the
ground. Do not drop the tool.
• Store the tool away from direct sunlight.
• Do not store in a nylon bag as this can encourage the formation
of mould.
• At the end of the season, give the trimmer an overall clean and a
thorough check.
• Do not leave the trimmer resting on the floor for extended periods as it
could cause the shape of the guard to alter, posing a safety risk. Hang
it off the floor by the handgrip.
Whenever the machine is not used for a long period of time, proceed
as follows:
• Empty the fuel tank completely.
• Protect all metal engine parts from corrosion by coating them with oil.
• Remove the spark plug, put a few drops of oil into the cylinder and then
pull the recoil starter 2 to 3 times in order to distribute the oil evenly.
Replace the spark plug.
troubleShootInG
power loss or sudden stopping of the engine
• Check whether there is fuel in the tank.
• Check whether the fuel reaches the carburetor. Clean the fuel filter in
the fuel tank.
• If there is water in the mixture, drain and rinse the entire fuel system.
• Check the air filter and clean as needed.
• Check if there are carbon deposits in the cylinder exhaust pipe or the
exhaust. Clean these or change the silencer.
bad quality cut
• The grass is too high or too thick for the engine power.
• Vegetation is wrapped around the cutting head.
