CLEANING
AND
MAINTENANCE
How
often
you
need
to
clean
your
GMC
AB20
Evaporative
Cooler
will
depend
on
local
conditions
such
as
the
air
and
water
quality.
If
you
have
high
mineral
content
in
your
water,
mineral
deposits
may
build
up
on
the
filters
and
may
cause
a
reduced
air
flow
to
the
cooling
pads.
Optimal
maintenance
would
be
draining
the
water
reservoir
at
least
once
a
week
and
replacing
it
with
fresh
water.
The
filters
should
be
cleaned
at
least
every
two
months
and
more
often
if
you
notice
a
build
up
of
mineral
deposits
on
the
filters.
Before
cleaning
always
remove
the
plug
from
the
electrical
socket.
Too
drain
the
water
in
the
tank,
ensure
the
unit
is
in
an
area
where
the
water
can
drain
too
or
use
a
bucket
for
the
draining,
so
as
not
to
cause
damage
to
surrounding
objects.
Once
the
unit
is
in
a
safe
area
you
can
remove
the
drain
plug
and
drain
the
excess
water.
Please
use
a
soft
cloth
to
wipe
the
outer
shell.
Do
not
use
gasoline
or
any
other
strong
chemical
solutions.
When
not
in
use
please
store
the
unit
in
dry
place
to
protect
against
heat
and
sunlight.
To
clean
filter
loosen
the
screw
and
remove
back
cover.
Rinse
the
filter
under
a
tap.
Ensure
the
filter
is
dry
before
replacing
it
on
the
unit.
Make
sure
too
fasten
the
screw
so
the
filter
is
secure
before
operating
the
unit.
If
the
unit
has
been
left
to
stand,
DO
NOT
run
the
unit
in
cool
mode
without
replacing
the
stale
water
in
the
tank.
Replace
the
stale
water
in
the
tank
with
fresh
water.
For
optimal
results,
allow
the
GMC
AB20
evaporative
cooler
to
dry
after
each
use
by
turning
off
thecool
function
15
minutes
before
turning
the
unit
off.
