Magnetic Load Lifter

2

Permanent magnetic lifters are used to hoist and move

steel plates, iron blocks, press molds, and many other

magnetic material items. These lifters feature a powerful

magnet that is safe to handle and easy to operate. They

are widely used as the hoisting tool in factories, docks,

warehouses, and transportation industries.
These lifters have the magnetic path made by strong

Neodymium Iron Boron (Nd-Fe-B) magnetic material

which supplies permanent power. The handle is used as

the power supply switch that turns the magnetic force

“on” or “off”. When the crane is switched to the “on”

position, the magnetism of the crane bottom will form a

pair of longitudinal magnetic poles that will firmly absorb

the item. The “V” shape bottom groove is designed for

lifting flat and circular workpieces.

OPERATION

WARNING

•

NEVER attempt to operate this lift magnet until all

operation and safety instructions in this manual are

read and understood.

•  ALWAYS use a safety hook latch on crane hooks to

hold lifting magnetics.

•

ALWAYS make sure that the load’s weight and

dimensions are within the magnet’s lifting guidelines.

1.

Check the condition of the magnet prior to every

operation. Wipe clean the bottom of the magnet and

the surface area on the load where the magnet will be

positioned. If necessary, file away any burrs on the

lifting load surface.

2.  Check hook, chain, and all other support equipment

being used.

3.  Position the magnet so the load will remain level when

lifted. Place the magnet at largest side/dimension of

your load.

4.  Grip the handle firmly and pull from “OFF” to “ON”

position.  Allow the slide pin to lock the handle in the

“ON” position and then release the handle.

5.  Stay clear of the load and inform others in the area that

a lift is to begin.

6.  Slowly lift load 2 to 3 inches to test and ensure that

adequate holding power is available.

7.

If test lift passes, continue to hoist the magnet

to desired height by lifting smoothly and without

any vibration, swinging, sudden acceleration or

deceleration, impaction, or objection. Always keep the

load level.

8.

Always stay clear of the load. Guide the load by

pushing or pulling the edges to keep your entire body

clear of the load at all times. Do not guide the load by

pushing or pulling the magnet. Keep entire body clear

of the load at all times.

9.  To release the load, carefully set the lifting load down.

Grip the handle firmly, unlock the handle shaft, and

turn to the “OFF” position. Lift the magnet slightly to

ensure the load has been released.

10.  Remove the lifting magnet and place it in a safe place.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT CONDITIONS

•  Operate and store in temperatures between -40°F to

176° (-40°C to 80°C).

•  Avoid areas that encounter heavy impact or violent shakes.
•  Keep away from metal erosion and metal agents not

being lifted.

INSPECTION AND MAINTENANCE

Before Every Lift:
•  Check all parts for cracks or other defects. If present,

do not use the magnet. Call Global Industrial Customer

Service at 1-800-645-2986 for further information.

•  All lifting surfaces of the magnet should be checked for

flatness and wear. Uneven wear will reduce the lifting

capacity due to air gaps.

•  Check the condition of all safety and operating labels.

Contact Global Industrial if missing or damaged.

•

Check the operation of the handle. The handle

shaft should move freely when extended and return

promptly upon release. If there are any issues, contact

Global Industrial.

Keep the magnet’s lifting surface clean, smooth, flat, and

free of rust and foreign materials. Store the lifter in an area

free of metal chips, grit, and moisture. Nicks and burrs on

the lifting surfaces will reduce the lifting capacity. If burrs

occur, they can be removed by filing them away. Protect

magnetic poles from rusting with oil after use.
