Hardware Installation Process

Below are the explanations:
If you want to operate the Dual Channel Technology, please note the following explanations
due to the limitation of Intel chipset specifications.
1. Only one DDR mem ory m odule is installed: The Dual Channel Technology can't
operate when only one DDR m emory module is installed. Additionally, you can boot the
system only when the memory module is inserted into Channel A. On the other hand,
the memory module must be inserted into DIMM1 or DIMM 3 sockets.
2. Two DDR mem ory modules are installed (the sam e mem ory size and type): The Dual
Channel Technology will operate when two mem ory modules are inserted individually
into Channel A and B. If you install two memory modules in the same channel, the Dual
Channel Technology will not operate. Additionally, you can boot the system only when
one of the memory modules is inserted into Channel A. On the other hand, the memory
module must be inserted into DIM M1 or DIM M3 sockets.
3. Three DDR m emory modules are installed: Please note that The Dual Channel Technol-
ogy will not operate when three DDR m emory modules are installed; part of them will
not be detected.
4. Four DDR mem ory m odules are installed: If you install four memory modules at the
same tim e, the Dual Channel Technology will operate only when those modules have
the same memory size and type.
Dual Channel DDR:
GA-8I865GVMK supports Dual Channel Technology.
When Dual Channel Technology is activated, the bandwidth of mem ory bus will be double the original
one,with the fastest speed at 6.4GB/s DDR400.
GA-8I865GVMK includes four DIMM slots, and each Channel has 2 DIMM s as following:
Channel A : DIM M 1, 2
Channel B : DIM M 3, 4
DDR Introduction
