Pipes:
Install the pipes well anchored on their own supports near the inlet and outlet points of the pump to
avoid their transmitting any vibration.
Ensure the pipes are fully sealed with jointing compound to the pump ports.
Install a pipe with diameter same than the pump holes.
Pumps are supplied with thread ports, so three pieces pipe union is recommended at suction and
delivery ports.
With rigid pipe, a damper joint (flexible connection) should be installed close to the pump to reduce
stress on the pump head.
Check all pumps are clear and free of obstruction or retraction.
Check that suction and delivery pipes are correctly connected to pump ports.
Suction pipes:
For suction pipe length in excess of 10 mts, or where there are many curves use pipe with bigger
diameter. Suction pipe must be completely air tight with continuous upward slope to pump inlet, to
avoid air-lack.
A strainer should be fitted in the suction line to stop foreign substances from damaging the pump.
A vacuum gauge is recommended where pump performance needs to be closely monitored as
well a non-returned valve and a sluice valve.
Delivery pipe:
Install a pipe Ø not less than the Ø of the pump holes. Install a vertical pipe length at least 300mm
before any elbow.
On delivery pipe, that should be air-tight, install a sluice valve and a manometer.
2.1 ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS
These machines are delivered ready to be connected. A qualified installer has to carry
out the connections, in full compliance with local legislation:
-Make sure that there is no voltage at the line wire terminals before connecting
the machine.
-Check that the data on the rating plate correspond with the rated line values.
-Before making connections, as from wiring diagram on the board, check that the ground circuit is
in full working order.
-Check the rotation sense of the motor; it must be clockwise looking from motor side or
corresponding to the sense of the arrow you can see on the motor.
To change the rotation in D.C. motors invert two polarity, in three phases invert 2 phases in A.C.
mono-phase check the wiring connection scheme in the connection box. This operation must be
made for a short time and with the pump casing full of liquid. Install a device for disconnection
from the mains with a contacts separation at least 3 mm in all poles always install a correct circuit
breaker in accordance with the nameplate data. The connection cables must be in proportion to
the target data and to some length of themselves. In D.C. motors, the supply must come from the
accumulator.
