2 - THE ADVANTAGES OF WATER SOFTENERS
The mineral salts of Calcium and Magnesium, making up the “
hardness
”, are the major cause of scale and
damage to water systems, boilers, heaters, household appliances, taps and fittings.
When the water hardness is higher than 15° f, installing a softener is recommended. Through special food-
grade resins the water softener retains the Calcium and Magnesium salts, thus removing the excessive
hardness.
Thanks to the protection against scale performed by the softener, it is possible to keep the
energy
efficiency
of water systems, household appliances and taps always at best, thus saving both on
maintenance costs and consumptions as well as on energy bills (electricity, gas, etc.)! The cost of the
softener itself is hence repaid quickly in some years!
Other important advantages are: less use of detergents, softer and more lasting clothes, shorter cooking
times, easier cleaning of house, sanitary ware, taps and fittings, stainless steel sinks, benefits for beauty
treatments and personal hygiene (smooth skin, soft and bright hair).
