Filtration system
A clogged filtration system may give rise to the following problems:
-
abnormal fuel consumption.
-
engine starting difficulties.
-
a drop in engine power.
-
premature engine wear.
At the end of each working day (See Fig.1):
Set the universal control lever to the stop position "
0
".
Undo the screws
and remove the cover
.
Roughly clean the area around the filter.
Push the clamp
upwards, push the rear part and swing out the air filter
towards the rear
handle, then remove it (Fig.2).
The filter must be replaced if damaged.
Beat the filter, or clean it with compressed air from the inside towards the outside.
In the event of tenacious dirt:
Wash the filter with special Stihl detergent or with a clean, non-inflammable solution. Dry the
filter.
Do not brush the filter!
Fitting the air filter:
Engage the ribs
in the grooves
.
Swing the air filter
towards the filter box and lock the clamp
.
Refit the cover
and tighten the screws
firmly.
The separation power and permeability to air of all air filter components of the machine are correctly matched.
For the above reason, use only original air filters (see § 5.2.2). The high quality of these parts, together with the prescribed maintenance and servicing
operations, guarantee trouble-free operation and long engine life.
IMPORTANT: If filters of other brands are fitted, even if their dimensions appear adequate, optimal protection of the engine against penetration by
contamination is not guaranteed. If the use of such filters results in high engine wear or engine damage, no claims against the guarantee will be accepted.
