Problem
Possible Cause
Corrective Action
Engine operation erratic
See “Engine” on page 65
Paver difficult to steer

may be as much as 1 to 2 ft.
in 100 ft. of travel under low or
no load conditions)
One forward/reverse lever not fully
engaged
Engage lever
Linkage for dual controls binding
Free up linkage
Tracks not properly aligned
Align tracks
Paver slowing down or exces-

is 0-80 FPM)
Engine not running at rated speed
Check fuel filter
Failure of hydraulic system component
(filter, motor, pump, etc.)
See “Hydraulic Pump and Motor System”

Problem
Possible Cause
Corrective Action

connection
Replace attaching pullarm bolt, one of
two rear bolts attached to screed and
depth adjustment assembly
4. Screed riding on lift cylinder
Lower lift cylinder completely
Wavy surface (long waves)
See Causes 1, 3, 4

Empty hopper completely if waiting period
lets asphalt cool
Tearing of mat (full width)
See Cause 2
