GE Reason Switches
REASON SWITCHES-TM-EN-3

o
DHCPv6 Current Lease: For interfaces with DHCPv6 enabled, this
field display the IP address obtained by the DHCPv6 server at the
VLAN of this interface;
o
IPv6 Address: define the static IP address to be used at this
interface. Values must be inserted with hexadecimal values, with
each field of the address separated with a colon (“:”) marker. When
DHCPv6 is enabled, this address will be used if the DHCPv6 server
does not respond to the requests of the switch;
o
IPv6 Mask Length: define the number of bits to be used as mask to
the IP address, from the most significant bit to the lowest
significant bit. Available values are from 0 to 128.
IP routes:
This field allows the insertion of IP routes to access the management interfaces. If the
terminal which needs to access the switch is configured in a different IP network
from the desired interface, the switch can route these connections to the Gateway,
allowing the terminal to access the interface. To add a new IP route, click in the Add
Route button. To delete a previously defined route, click in the Delete button. Possible
configurations are as follows.
o
Network: define network IP address of destination route. IPv4
values must be inserted in dotted decimal notation, and IPv6
values must be inserted with hexadecimal values, with each field of
the address separated with a colon (“:”) marker;
o
Mask Length: define the number of bits to be used as mask to the
IP address, from the most significant bit to the lowest significant
bit;
o
Gateway: define the IP address of the gateway. IPv4 values must
be inserted in dotted decimal notation, and IPv6 values must be
inserted with hexadecimal values, with each field of the address
separated with a colon (“:”) marker. Gat
eway and Network
addresses must be at the same IP version;
o
Next Hop VLAN: used only if IPv6 route is requested. Define the
VLAN ID of the interface associated to the Gateway. The VLAN IDs
allowed range from 1 to 4,095.
IPv4 network addresses end with 0, for example, 192.168.0.0 / 24 (network zero) or 192.168.10.0 / 24 (network 10). When IP
Route is used, be sure that there is a route from the terminal IP network to Reason Switches interface. That means that at least
two network routes must be configured: One route from the terminal IP address to the Gateway, and another route from Reason
Switches interface IP address to the same Gateway. It is not mandatory that IP addresses of terminal and Reason Switches are
in the same IP network as the Gateway.
Gateway and Network addresses must be at the same IP version.
