SPECIAL FUNCTIONS
There are various settings that can be adapted to your individual liking: the langua-
ge of the display, the maximum keep warm time, the volume of the acoustic signals,
the temperature unit, and the format of the time display (refer to ‘Preferences’). For
making storage easier, the appliance can reduce its height by moving the cantilever
to a medium park position (see below: ‘Moving the Cantilever to the Park Position’).
Additionally, you can recall the original factory settings (see: ‘Restoring the Factory
Settings’).
MOVING THE CANTILEVER TO THE PARK POSITION
IMPORTANT -
Do not move the cantilever manually to avoid excessive load to
the motor drive.
Storing the appliance is easier with the cantilever positioned in the medium park
position. When the cantilever is parked, the kettle can still be removed from the
power base.
1. Ensure that the appliance is in standby mode (no programs or functions are run-
ning).
2. Hold the AUTO STEEP button pressed for approx. 3 seconds until the signal
sounds. When releasing the button, the cantilever moves completely down and
then up again to the medium park position. Thereafter, the appliance switches
off completely.
NOTE
When connecting the appliance to the power supply again, during initialisation
the cantilever moves up to the topmost position.
RESTORING THE FACTORY SETTINGS
IMPORTANT -
When restoring the factory settings, all individual settings are
deleted irreversibly. Only the language of the display will be kept.
1. Ensure that the appliance is in standby mode (no programs or functions are run-
ning).
2. Hold the buttons TEMP/TIME and FAV./CUS. pressed simultaneously for
approx. 5 seconds. The appliance issues an acoustic signal and the complete
array of the display illuminates shortly. Thereafter, with the exception of the lan-
guage, any user-defined settings are overwritten and the original factory settings
are recalled.
SOLVING PROBLEMS
If any problems occur during operation, you will find the solution in the following
table.
Problem
Reason
The Solution
Emergency stop required?
Unplug the appliance.
There is still a gap bet-
ween lid ring and kettle.
The lid ring must be instal-
led in correct orientation.
Turn the lid ring. There is a guiding groove in the lid ring
that must be positioned above the handle of the kettle.
The pouring sieve must be centred at the spout of the
kettle. Then push the lid ring down slightly and without
violence until it settles on the rim of the kettle.
The lid wobbles within the
lid ring and could fall duri-
ng pouring.
The lid is not installed
correctly.
Push the lid down in the lid ring. The lid may not protru-
de the lid ring.
The sealing ring at the rim
of the lid is damaged or
missing.
The dark sealing ring at the rim of the lid holds the lid in
place within the lid ring. If required, contact your vendor.
The kettle is placed on the
power base and the appli-
ance is plugged in, but the
display is dark.
The appliance is not live. Check, if the power plug is connected to a suitable power
outlet (see: ‘Technical Specifications’). Check, if the power
outlet is live by connecting a lamp.
If the appliance is idle for
more than 5 minutes, for
saving energy the appli-
ance switches OFF auto-
matically.
Press any button or remove the kettle from the power
base to re-activate the display.
Almost immediately after
connecting the appliance to
the power supply, the can-
tilever moves without any
program started.
An initialisation of the
motor drive is performed.
This may happen when plugging in the appliance. The
motor drive is determining the topmost and/or bottom-
most position of the cantilever. Ensure that the move-
ment of the cantilever is not obstructed.
No response to your
entries.
The display stays dark: the
appliance is not live.
Check, if the power plug is connected to a suitable power
outlet (see: ‘Technical Specifications’). Check, if the
power outlet is live by connecting a lamp.
The display is illuminated:
A program is still running.
With a program running, most buttons are blocked. Can-
cel any running program (press the illuminated start/stop
button TEA or WATER). Then try again.
An error has occurred. An
error message is shown
on the display.
