INTERFERENCE
Many variables can potentially cause interference with any metal detector
operation. However, there are some major variables to address. Electrical
sources of interference, generators, transformers, electrical panels, etc.,
should be kept as far away as possible. Large metallic objects moving or
stationary, revolving doors, elevators, garbage cans, barricades, etc.,
should be kept as far away as possible. Search tables and personnel
should be placed a minimum of 6" from the detector. X-Ray
machines and other complementary screening equipment should be placed
a minimum distance of 12" from the detector.
