6.2 Initial commissioning
6.2.1 Check the rotation direction
CAUTION
Risk of injury due to wrong direction of rotation!
Rotating backwards for a longer time can cause injuries due to drawing in and
can damage the machine.
Ø
Use a phase sequence indicator to check the direction of rotation
(anti-clockwise).
Ø
Keep a distance of 1 m to outlet and inlet connections.
The drive shaft direction of rotation is shown by the rotation direction arrow (Fig. 2/O) on the motor flange.
a) Start the motor briefly (max. two seconds) to check the direction of rotation. When looking at the motor
fan, it must rotate clockwisely.
6.2.2 Control unit
If the control works improperly due to wrong parameters, this can cause malfunctions of the ma-
chine and operating shut down.
For proper operation we recommend getting the initial commissioning and changes of the param-
eters done by competent personnel only who know how PID controls work.
The following default settings have been entered in the control unit:
• Start via release switch
• Setpoint pressure value: 400 mbar (abs.)
• Authorisation level: Main operator
Preconditions for commissioning:
• The main switch of the control is set to "OFF". The Emergency Stop push-button has been locked.
• The power supply of the frequency converter and the control are ensured.
Procedure for commissioning:
a) Unlock the Emergency Stop push-button (Fig. 6/1).
b) Switch the main switch on (Fig. 6/3) (position „ON“).
The control unit switches on and the Start screen (Fig. 11) appears on the touchscreen (Fig. 6/5).
When the display is switched on, the actual parameters are read out from the frequency converter. As
long as this has not been completed, the text „Initialisation is running“ is displayed in the status line. If
initialisation was successful, the message „Initialisation is running“ is blanked out.
Now the control is ready for operation.
c) Check the setpoint value of pressure. If the pre-set value of 400 mbar is OK for your system, the pump
can be started. After that actuate the release switch (Fig. 6/4).
The pump starts and is controlled for the pre-set setpoint value.
The customer-specific parameters are set for each unit individually because system volumes and
control behaviour are different. As delivered we cannot guarantee that the PID values provide the
optimum control characteristic for the initial commissioning.
The customer-specific values are adapted via the „PID“ screen.
If the adaptation of the parameters for the pressure control is necessary, this has to be done via the „PID“
screen. For this, proceed as follows:
