Measuring AC & DC Volts

Note: Voltage measurements can only be made using the

test leads and not the clamp-around jaws.

Set the function/range dial to the appropriate AC or DC
voltage setting. Place the leads across the circuit under test
and read the middle scale on the analog display. For proper
voltage measurements multiply the reading on the scale by
the chart below.

Measuring AC Amps

Set the dial to the proper AMPS range and open the jaws.
Note that the jaws will only open when in the AMPS range.
Place the jaws around a single conductor, either the hot or
neutral wire, and read the measurement on the display. Note
that the jaws must not be clamped around two wires or a false
measurement will occur.

4)  Never immerse the meter in water or solvents. To clean

the housing use a damp cloth with a minimal amount of
mild soap.

Analog Meter: Reading the Scale

LOCKjaw™: This special feature does not allow the jaws to

open when the dial is in the OHMS or Voltage settings.
The jaws are only used for taking amperage readings.

3.1 Measuring Resistance

Before making resistance or continuity tests, check the
condition of the internal battery. First turn the function/range
switch to the ohms position. Short the test leads together
and the needle indicator should deflect to the right side of
the scale. Keep the test leads shorted together while
simultaneously turning the zero ohms adjustment
dial until the needle indicator reads zero at the right side
of the scale. If the needle will not zero, replace the battery
with a new 1.5 volt AA size battery.
