4. Using the Equipment for the First Time

Position of equipment:

The point at which the unit is fixed must be sound, dry and well
ventilated and must permit the pump to be set up in a stable
position.

Install the pump at a safe distance (min. 2 m) from the pump-
ing medium.

The pump must be installed in a location with low air humidity
and sufficient ventilation in the area of the ventilation slots. It
must be at a distance of at least 5 cm from the walls. No dirt
contamination (e.g. sand or earth) may be sucked in through the
ventilation slots.

Install automatic domestic

The mounting plate prevents the pump moving.

water system permanently:

1. Screw mounting plate

on to an appropriate base.

2. Place pump on the base with both feet

.

Set the pump such that a suitably large container can be positioned
below the drain screw for emptying the pump or unit

If possible, install the pump higher than the surface of the water to
be pumped. If this is not possible, install a vacuum-resistant shut-
off device between the pump and the suction hose, for example
for cleaning the integrated filter.

If you install your Electronic Pressure Pump permanently indoors to
supply water for domestic use, connect your pump to the pipe
network using flexible hoses rather than rigid pipes. This will help
reduce noise and prevent damage to the manometric switch
due to vibration.

If the system is being installed permanently, please fit suitable
shut-off devices on both the intake and delivery sides. This is
important e.g. for maintenance and cleaning work or if the system
is being shut down.

The connection pieces on the intake and delivery sides must
only be tightened by hand.

Connect the hose to the

Do not use any water hose snap connection system components

suction side:

on the intake side. A vacuum-tight suction hose must be used e.g.

GARDENA Suction Hose

art. 1411

GARDENA borehole Suction Hose

art. 1729

.

To reduce the pump repriming time, we recommend:

using a suction hose with backflow preventer, which prevents
the suction hose emptying automatically when the Pressure
Tank Unit is switched off

If the suction heights are high, use a suction hose with a small
diameter.

1.  Connect vacuum-tight suction hose

via a connection piece

(e.g.

art. 1723 / 1724

to the connection on the intake side

and screw in place so that it is airtight.

2.  For suction heights exceeding 4 m also secure the suction

hose

(e.g. by fastening it to a wooden post).

This relieves the pump of the weight of the suction hose.

If very fine dirt is present, we recommend the use of a

GARDENA pump preliminary filter art. 1730 / 1731

in addition

to the integrated filter.
