Operation
7.1.
CLAMP THE WORKPIECE TOGETHER WITH THE ADAPTER MAT
CAUTION
Risk of injury due to a loose workpiece
Workpieces that come loose from the vacuum plate can cause injuries.
»
Maintain a constant operating vacuum of at least 70%.
»
Use the vacuum indicator to monitor the operating vacuum whilst the workpiece
is being machined.
»
Machining forces must be less than the restraining forces.
»
If the workpiece is subjected to higher forces, restrain it using back-stop discs.
»
Arrange the back-stop discs to counteract the machining forces or feed move-
ments.
i
Lay the adapter mat between the workpiece and clamping face.
Use the adapter plate to cover the slits not covered by the workpiece.
Milled slots up to 1.5 mm deep in the adapter plate can be accepted without loss of va-
cuum.
The adapter mat can be re-used for workpieces with the same contour
ü
There must be no burrs or unevennesses on the contact face of the workpiece.
ü
Contact area between the vacuum plate and workpiece cleaned.
1. Place the adapter mat together with the workpiece to be clamped on the va-
cuum plate.
2. Use the adjustable back-stop discs to align the workpiece on the adapter mat.
3. Draw the workpiece contour on the adapter mat. Remove the workpiece.
4. Take the adapter mat off the vacuum plate and place it on a firm surface.
5. Use hole punches to punch holes in the adapter mat within the marked contour
of the workpiece. Choose a hole diameter larger than the width of the slits. Posi-
tion the holes in alignment with the slits of the vacuum plate.
6. Place the adapter plate with punched holes on the vacuum plate.
7. Place the workpiece on the adapter mat in accordance with the contour outline.
8. Switch on the vacuum and clamp the workpiece.
»
The optimum operating pressure for the Venturi vacuum pump is 4.0 bar.
»
At 70% vacuum, the red indicator pin on the vacuum indicator is fully retrac-
ted.
9. Check that the workpiece is securely seated. The red indicator pin on the vacuum
indicator must not be visible.
»
The workpiece is now clamped.
7.2.
CLAMP THE WORKPIECE TOGETHER WITH THE ADHESIVE
FILM
i
Adhesive film is thinner than adapter mats and due to its higher coefficient of fric-
tion achieves a higher adhesive force.
1. The procedure for clamping the workpiece is the same as for the adapter mat.
See Clamp the workpiece together with the adapter mat [
7.3.
REMOVING THE WORKPIECE
1. Before removal of the workpiece, clean the vacuum plate under vacuum using an
industrial vacuum cleaner.
2. After cleaning away all debris and chips, switch off the operating vacuum.
3. Remove the workpiece.
8.
Maintenance
The vacuum plate is maintenance-free.
9.

Increase the power of the vacuum pump
10. Cleaning
Clean with a cloth or compressed air.
Do not use any corrosive cleaning agent.
11. Storage
Store in an enclosed dry room.
Do not store close to corrosive or aggressive chemical substances, solvents, moisture
or dirt.
Protect against direct sunlight.
Store at temperatures b15° C and +35 °C.
Relative atmospheric humidity max. 60%
12. Spare parts
Use only original spare parts and wearing parts.
Rubber adapter mat
Adhesive film
13. Disposal
Comply with the national and regional environmental protection and disposal regu-
lations for correct disposal or recycling. Segregate items into metals, non-metals,
composite materials and consumables and dispose of them responsibly.
