3.4.3
Preparing the writing bow
The two axis locators are inserted into the holes for the
left and right stylus and clamped firmly.
The writing bow is now ready to be mounted.
3.4.4
Mounting the writing bow
The side arms of the lower face bow are pushed com-
pletely outwards, then slightly fixated. The patient holds
the lower jaw closed and in centric (retral) position. The
double clamp is pushed onto the clutch.
Make sure not to loosen the clutch and check once more
that it fits correctly.
The side arms are moved, so that the tips of the axis loc-
ators slide into the bores on the upper face bow, which
mark the anatomical axis point. This fixes the positions
of the styli on the anatomical axis, and also guarantees a
correct distance to the flag.
The patient or an assistant lightly presses both guides in-
wards.
The writing bow is now adjusted so that it is parallel to
the upper face bow. Both fixing clamps of the side arms
are carefully clamped firmly.
