Switches S1 and S2 must be handled only when the UPS involved is switched off with SWIN SWOUT SWBATT
left open.
in case of common batteries (see P

), it is necessary to insert one battery
disconnector switches per UPS.
Unless all parallel system fuse holders are opened (all units), including any battery boxes, all the battery banks’
voltage will be present on the UPS battery terminals “BATT”.
C
ONNECTING THE CENTRALIZED REMOTE MAINTENANCE BYPASS
Connecting the “Remote maintenance bypass” permits, among other things, a UPS to be replaced without interrupting the load
power supply (see the UPS user manual).
With two or more UPS’s connected in parallel, a single disconnecting switch (suitably rated) must be used to connect the load
directly to the power supply line, thus bypassing the UPS’s (See
S3
switch in “Additional isolating” scheme).
It is also essential for this disconnecting switch to have as many auxiliary contacts as there are UPS machines. Each of these
auxiliary contacts must be connected to the “SERVICE BYPASS” terminal of the respective UPS, totally independently of the
others (see UPS manual).
Failure to do this may result in the power supply to the load being interrupted and/or damage to one or more of the UPS units.
