Using write protection

Write protection should be enabled whenever you wish to protect the tape from accidental
overwriting or deletion.

When the tape cartridge is write-protected, the system can read data, but can neither overwrite nor
delete data.

The write protection facility consists of a screw with an arrow. If you turn the screw by means of a
screwdriver, the write protection is enabled or disabled.

If the arrow points to this symbol, the cartridge is not write-protected.

If the arrow points to this symbol, the cartridge is write-protected.

Cleaning

To guarantee error-free data processing, cleaning of the write/read heads is requested by the drive
via the "Fault" indicator on a regular basis after approximately 50 hours of tape operation. The
cleaning prompt may also be made sooner if the write/read heads are particularly soiled.

!

Only use cleaning cartridges (dry cleaning) of the type "TDS DPCC 6000" (for where to
order, see the section "

Handling magnetic tape cartridges

").

Do not carry out wet cleaning!
