Conventions for Alert Messages
Alert messages
This manual uses alert messages to prevent users and bystanders from
being injured or from suffering damage to their property. An alert
message consists of an alert symbol and alert statements. The alert signals
and their meanings are as follows.
WARNING
This indicates a hazardous situation that
could
result in serious
personal injury
if the user
does not perform the procedure correctly.
CAUTION
This indicates a hazardous situation that
could
result in
minor
or
moderate
personal
injury
if
the user does not perform the procedure
correctly. This alert signal also indicates that
damage to the products or other property
may
occur if the user does not perform the
procedure correctly.
In addition to the above-cited signals, the
following symbols are also used to provide
detailed information concerning injury or
damage:
Electric shock
The symbol marked with
indicates a warning or caution.
The meaning of an alert is
illustrated in the symbol. (The
example at left indicates caution
against an electric shock.)
