Establishing a direct Modem connection
A built in modem is available as an option with your notebook.
To establish a connection using modem

You do not need to switch off your notebook.
Ê
Insert the LAN/Modem cable into the port on the right side panel of your Notebook, or the back
panel of your port replicator.
Connecting to LAN or modem using a PC card
A LAN, LAN-Modem or modem PC card is available as an option with your notebook.
To establish a connection using a PC card
Ê Insert the PC card into the port located on the left side panel of your notebook ( see section
"
Installing a PC card ").

Follow the instructions on the screen.
To disconnect use the small PC card icon located in your task bar to stop the card:

Place the cursor over the PC card icon.
Ê
Right click on the icon in your PC card task bar.
Ê
Select PC card Properties .
Ê Select the card you wish to stop and click on
Stop
.
Wait for the dialogue box which tells you that it is now safe to remove the PC card.
Ê
You may then remove the PC card.
