Mounting and assembly instruction
General recommendations
Carefully read this instruction manual before
installation and use of the SW02 unit. Keep these
instructions in a safe place for future reference.
Application area
Frico SW02 is a fan heater with water
connection used for heating industrial plant,
warehouses, shops etc. Protection class SW02:
IP44.
The unit consists of :
Casing of corrosion-proof, hot rolled galvanized
and powder coated steel panels. Colour code:
RAL9016. Casing without laquer, or in other
colour than white, can be specially ordered.
The fan unit consists of a fully enclosed single-
phase 230V, 50Hz, intergrated motor with an
axial fan. Maximum surrounding temperature:
+40°C.
The fan motor is prepared for three stage fan
speed regulation. For regulation, see page 2 and
10. The motor is equipped with an automatically
resetting thermocontact which is connected to
the terminal blocks.
Water heating coil with aluminium fins (fin
distance 2 mm) and copper tubes. Smooth pipe
connections for soldering or clamping ring
coupling. In standard designs, SW02 is intended
for hot water up +90°C. SW is also available in
special designs for water temperatures up to
+130°C. The heating coils are pressure tested for
30 bar. Maximum working pressure is 16 bar.
All models are delivered with individually
adjustable louvres for controlling the air current
in one direction. Louvres of anodized aluminium.
Mounting
SW02 is delivered with casing, fan, heating coil
and air director as a standard.
SW02 can be mounted on the wall for horizon-
tal air distribution or on the ceiling for vertical
air distribution. SW can be mounted with the
pipes either to the left or to the right.
For dimensions and pipe dimensions, see
page 2.
1 Loosen the bracket from the appliance by
unscrewing the screws from the lower holes
completely and the upper as much as necessary.
2 Mark holes with help of the loose bracket.
3 Drill holes for the screws and mount the
bracket.
4 Mount the heater on the bracket and adjust to
desired angle.
5 Screw the lower screws in and tighten all
screws.
Water connection
The installation should be carried out by a
competent installer. Pipe connections can be
made on either side of the SW02 unit. Observe
the water in- and outlet, see page 2. Connection
pipes are made of copper for soldering or clamp
ring pipe connection.
Note! Be careful while connecting the pipes to
prevent pipe damage and water leakage.
The heating coil must not be connected to a
mains pressure water system or an open water
system.
Prior to use, bleed the pipe system. Bleeding
should be carried out at a high point outside the
heater. Íf a drain valve is used, it should be
mounted outside the unit (drain valve is extra).
Electrical installation
The electrical installation should be carried out
by a competent electrician in conformity with
prevailing regulations. The appliance should be
preceded by a triple-pole switch with at least
3 mm breaking gap.
The fan motor is connected via a cable gland
in the casing, to a terminal box inside the unit.
On the side of the unit there are knock-outs,
2 pcs ø 20 mm for cable glands.
All motors are equipped with a built in
automatically resetting thermocontact,
connected to the terminal blocks. It is
recommended to use an external motor
protection
(with manual reset and an alarm
signal for higher safety).
Cable glands used must guarantee the
protection class requirements.
See wiring diagrams on page 4-5.
After the electrical installation of the motor,
check the rotation of the fan. Seen from the inlet
side, the impellers should be rotating anti-
clockwise.
