You may need the following to change your batteries:

1. Metric/standard socket set and ratchet.
2. Adjustable wrench.

To replace the batteries:

1. Turn off the power to the controller.
2. Make sure that the power chair is in drive mode.
3. Remove the seat. See“ DISASSEMBLY AND ASSEMBLY ”.
4. Loosen the screws and remove the body shroud. See“ DISASSEMBLY AND ASSEMBLY ”.
5. Disconnect the battery cables from the battery terminals of each battery. (See figure 10).
6. Lift the front and rear batteries out of the power base.
7. Install new batteries into the power base. Make sure the terminals of each battery are facing the 
     front of the power chair. (See figure 30).
8. Connect the both battery cable. Make sure that the battery terminal hardware is facing the 
    correct direction. (See figure 30).
9. Reinstall the body shroud and tighten the screws to secure the shroud.
10. Reinstall the seat.
11. Charge the batteries. See“ BATTERIES AND CHARGING ”.

            WARNING! 

The battery cables must be disconnected from the battery terminals before sliding 

the battery tray back or cable damage could result.

              

WARNING!

 Make sure you tighten the fasteners so that the connections are secure.

CORRECTIVE MAINTENANCE

If the battery condition meter does not light up when you turn on the power:
1. Check the harness connections. Make sure they are tight.
2. Check the circuit breaker. Reset it if necessary.
3. Check the battery connections.

If the above conditions prove normal, you can load test the batteries with a battery load tester. These 
testers are available at automotive parts stores. Disconnect both batteries before load testing and 
follow the directions that come with the load tester. If either one of the batteries fails the load test, 
replace both of them. If your power chair still does not power up, contact your Authorized Freerider 
Agent.
